CliffSide delivers an adventure comedy set in a supernatural western world. I can’t remember the last time a cartoon made me laugh out loud multiple times over the course of eleven minutes. The tone of the show is unpredictable, but never random. The plot shifts seamlessly from action, to horror, to comedy, and there’s even a touch of romance.
Monsters and shootouts abound in this animated western comedy following an overconfident kid, his apathetic partner, and a spider-girl with some serious boundary issues. What will it take to save CliffSide from some rather unconventional evil in the surrounding cliffs, and will our hero ever actually learn anything?
Even as someone who doesn’t like cowboys or Westerns, I fell in love with this world and characters. The art style is fresh and modern mixing 2D and 3D elements cohesively. It kind of reminds me of the Hazbin Hotel. It’s inspiring to see fresh and unique visions out there from new animation talent.
I hope that the pilot gets picked up as a series like Final Space. Best of luck to the creative team and I hope to see more work soon.
