It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen Jim Carrey on the big screen, but one of the best comedians of our time is coming back! Yes, Carrey will be starring in a new Showtime series called Kidding which will premiere in the Fall. This week he opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about what he’s been up to and how it feels to return to Hollywood.
The story is making headlines as Carrey expresses bluntly that he’s not all that thrilled to be returning, but that this project seemed worthy.
"You’re always waiting for that thing that you recognize as some part of yourself and the life experience here matched up.” – @JimCarrey on playing Jeff Pickles in #Showtime’s new series #Kidding. Read the full cover article on @THR: https://t.co/CPwclSKKlc pic.twitter.com/awA33BdJj7

Here’s the description of the new show from Hollywood Reporter:
The Showtime dramedy Kidding came along — and with it, the opportunity to play Jeff Pickles, a Mister Rogers-style kids’ TV icon who’s struggling to maintain his gentle, wholesome public persona while his private life goes to hell. When the show has its premiere Sept. 9, it will raise questions about, among other things, the burden of public life, which hits close to home for an actor who had effectively renounced his own celebrity.
Take a look at the trailer below:
I think it looks fantastic. It’s a more modern, “what would happen in a Mr. Rogers type” in real life? Sounds interesting enough. I’ve always been a fan of Jim Carrey and I find his recent perspective on life to be refreshing. I look forward to seeing his return.
Kidding will premiere on Showtime Sunday, September 9 at 10pm.
