Next month sees the release of the over-sized one-shot, Go Go Power Rangers: Back to School from Boom! Studios and Hasbro. It takes a look at the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team as they head out for Spring Break. This is the first vacation they’ve had since they received their Power Coins, and the first time they’ll be apart. They each embark on their own week-long trip where they’ll learn how you don’t have to morph to be a hero.
Go Go Power Rangers: Back to School is written by Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Jordan Gibson, Xiao Tong Kong, and Ilaria Catalani. It will feature a main cover by Dan Mora and variant covers by Gurihiru and Jonboy Meyers.
Dafna Pleban, Senior Editor, Boom! Studios says:
This is your first chance to see the heart, joy and surprises that Marguerite Bennett will bring to the world of Power Rangers in September before she takes the reins of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Along with an incredible team of artists, we’re going to get to see the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers dealing with one of their greatest challenges yet – taking a break from saving the world.
Since Go Go Power Rangers has been more about the characters themselves and less about their costumed adventures, this one-shot sounds perfect. If it can capture a fraction of the drama that the main series does, it will be stellar. Look for Go Go Power Rangers: Back to School at your local comic shop on September 19th, 2018.
