When this show was released last year, it was described as a type of Breaking Bad show. That was enough to hook me. After watching the first season, I could definitely see where people were coming from. Here’s why: Jason Bateman plays Marty Byrde, a father and financial planner. He has to relocate his family after a money-laundering scheme that he was involved in goes very wrong. In that sense, it’s a lot like what would have taken place if Walter White wasn’t as careful as he always was.
Not to discount the show, because Ozark can stand on its own two feet. It just has an extremely different vibe from that of Breaking Bad. One that can be a bit darker at times and is heavily influenced by the setting.
This Friday brings the release of the second season on Netflix. I’m hoping it will be the perfect show to binge over the long holiday weekend. Until then, check out the trailer below:
