Netflix has released a teaser for the upcoming The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It’s short, of course, but suggests much of the series’ mood as witchcraft, mangoats and dark woods surround Sabrina as she celebrates an important birthday.
Kiernan Shipka stars as Sabrina Spellman, a half-witch/half-mortal who stands against evil forces that threaten herself, her family and conventional human types while also wrestling with her place in both worlds.
Based on Aguirre-Sacasa’s Archie Comics title of the same name, the program will also feature Ross Lynch as Sabrina’s potential love interest Harvey Krinkle, with Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis as Sabrina’s aunts Zelda and Hilda, Doctor Who‘s Michelle Gomez as Sabrina’s mentor Mary Wardell, Chance Perdomo as Sabrina’s British cousin Ambrose, Tati Gabrielle as rival Prudence, Jaz Sinclair as Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind Walker and Bronson Pinchot as nefarious Baxter High principle George Hawthorne.
Originally intended as a “companion” series to Riverdale on The CW, the project moved to Netflix and will not have any ties to other program. The new series was teased obliquely during Riverdale‘s second season when Archie (KJ Apa) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) visited the town despite warnings it was not a place one wanted to be after midnight.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina debuts on October 26th.
