Skybound’s Hardcore Turns Everyone Into A Weapon This December

by James Ferguson

Get ready for one crazy idea from one impressive creative team. This December, Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment will release Hardcore, written by Andy Diggle and illustrated by Alessandro Vitti, based on an idea from Robert Kirkman and Marc Silvestri. Do I even need to tell you the premise?

Hardcore follows Agent Drake of the Hardcore Program. It’s a system that allows him to turn anyone, from your neighbor to your co-worker to your spouse into a human drone to get to targets that normal soldiers can’t. Drake is the best soldier at Hardcore but when the program gets hijacked, he finds himself stranded in a body with only 72 hours to neutralize the threat. Who can he trust when his enemy can change their appearance with ease?

Writer Andy Diggle says:

Robert Kirkman and Marc Silvestri’s action-packed concept immediately appealed to me. It’s been a pleasure to write and expand upon this idea, and I can’t wait for comic book readers to see where Hardcore goes.

Hardcore will feature cover art by Dan Panosian.

Artist Alessandro Vitti adds:

I’m very happy and honored to have worked on Hardcore. Seeing my name next to Andy Diggle for this project is fantastic. I’m thankful to Jon Moisan and his colleagues at Skybound, and Image, for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to share this project with readers!

This is such a great high concept. My mind is instantly racing with the possibilities of this idea and I can’t wait to see what these folks do with it. Unsurprisingly, this is something that could easily translate into a TV show.

Hardcore #1 is set for release on Wednesday, December 19th. The final order cutoff date for comic shops is Monday, November 26th.
