While it seems as though the Fox X-Men film series in its last hours, the new trailer for Dark Phoenix tries to prove there is still gas in the tank. That said, it’s use of “The End” makes a very pointed comment about the future.

Many of the previous film’s cast returns, including James McAvoy as Professor X, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. Together, they face a familiar threat when Jean Grey’s (Sophie Turner) powers begin to manifest as the Phoenix Force, a cosmic entity with a lot of baggage and a handful of aliens looking to end its existence. Will this prove to be the X-Men’s last stand before their world becomes the concern of another cinematic universe?

X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens on February 14th, 2019.
