I attended New York Comic Con for the first year and had a great time. There were so many great talks and I was impressed by the amount of talent that tabled in Artist Alley, especially international talent. I was able to have a lot of comics signed and accumulated a fair amount of stuff, even with not being able to attend all four days.
I’ve been anticipating the Image series, Bitter Root, ever since it was teased back in the spring of 2017. Now that issue #1 is coming out next month, I couldn’t help but pick up a shirt and print. Like James, I also attended the DC Vertigo panel and received an advanced copy of Hex Girls and the three prints. The Goddess Mode poster with art from Robbi Rodriguez is beautiful.
Other comics I picked up were variant covers of Blackbird and Murder Falcon and the limited ashcan of What’s the Furthest Place From Here? It contained the first 20 pages or so of the first issue and was so good. Another cool book I picked up was Green Leader, Daniel Warren Johnson’s fan story about the minor A-wing pilot from Return of the Jedi.
Finally, I always like to add to my sketchbook. At NYCC, I had artist, Alexis Ziritt, do his take on Doctor Voodoo.
