Boom! Studios is launching an all-new Firefly series in November in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products and has been promoting it like crazy. It’s very clear the publisher is behind this launch 100%. We’ve just received a new look inside the first issue with some all-new preview pages.
Firefly is written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Dan McDaid. The series creator, Joss Whedon is working as a story consultant. The comic series tells the definitive story of the Unification War, the intergalactic civil war that divided both friends and family.
Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios says:
Mal has always been classified as a lovable rogue. But in revealing his past, we’re able to really dissect that, to accept him at his worst as well as his best. Greg and Dan are crafting a story that really springs out of what made the show great: that these characters are complex and flawed, and that their faults make them as much of who they are as their strengths. The war wasn’t kind to Mal, but neither was he kind in it, and it’s going to inform how his crew — and the reader — see him.
After hearing about this awesome stuff that Boom! Studios has planned for Firefly and seeing Pak talk about it at a panel at New York Comic Con a few weeks ago, I cannot wait for this series. Firefly #1 debuts on November 14th, 2018.
