Last week, Netflix released a new chilling series The Haunting of Hill House. Adapted from Shirley Jackson’s book, Mike Flanagan has brought the series to streaming life. The story follows a family, a group of siblings in particular who are recovering from a traumatic childhood. They lived in the most famous haunted house in the country until tragedy struck, and now many years later, we get to see how their adult life is treating them.
Here’s what horror master, Stephen King has to say:
THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, revised and remodeled by Mike Flanagan. I don't usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great. Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve, but who knows for sure.

I’m only a few episodes into the show, but am completely hooked. This is the first time in a long time that I am watching a show on Netflix that I want to savor. The writing is so good. I love how we get to see bits of the traumatic past interspersed throughout their adulthood present day. It’s the perfect time of year to cozy up under some blankets and get scared!
Be sure to watch The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix now.
