Sabrina’s “Midwinter’s Tale” And Happy! Season 1 Lead Our Picks On Netflix In December

by Erik Amaya

Netflix has unleashed its schedule for December and though it is extensive, the previously announced bonus episode of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, “The Midwinter’s Tale” is a our lead pick of month. The series has been great so far, and since the show likes to tackle holidays, we can’t wait to see how Sabrina celebrates the Yuletide. According to the episode description, “Sabrina orchestrates an emotional séance with serious consequences, and Susie’s merry plans turn menacing.” The episode debuts on December 12th. Other holiday-timed debuts include Free Rein: The Twelve Neighs of Christmas and a Nailed It! holiday special. Both will be available on December 7th.

On the comic book front, the first season of Happy! makes its way to the service. The Syfy original stars Christopher Meloni as Nick Sax, a very bad hitman having a very bad Christmas. Patton Oswalt co-stars as Happy, an imaginary friend who appears to Nick with a desperate plea. Based on the comic book by Grant Morrison and Darrick Robertson, the series expands on the original comic in delightful — and disgusting — ways. It debuts on December 6th. Also, Hellboy and Astro Boy return to the service on December 1st. And as a Christmas treat, Avengers: Infinity War will debut on December 25th; but watch it quickly as the Marvel films will disappear from Netflix in a snap sometime during the new year.

For cinastes, Alfonso Cuarón’s ROMA hits the service on December 14th. The film “chronicles a tumultuous year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s.” According to critical word from festival screenings earlier this year, it is a beautiful and difficult film which should be seen in theaters, but Netflix will likely be the only way most people will see it.

Rounding out our picks for the month is, of course, the 8th season of Voltron: Legendary Defender. The final batch of episodes sees the Paladins and the Galaxy Garrison facing their final challenge to rid the galaxy of the remaining Galra threat. Will the witch Hagar finally get her comeuppance? The new season drops on December 14th.

Of course, there’s plenty more to see. So here’s the complete list of everything arrive and leaving Netflix next month:
