Jesse Custer be praised!
Deadline reports AMC has renewed Preacher for a fourth season. Production will begin in Australia early in the new year. The series follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) — an unlikely trio who learn God has abdicated his throne and, wanting to give Him what-for, go searching for the Almighty. They also face worldwide conspiracies, deranged local despots, and an immortal gunslinger aiming for Jesse. Also, Adolf Hitler (Noah Taylor) plays a surprising recurring role as the series, produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin, evolves away from the Preacher comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
AMC Networks President of Programming, Entertainment Network David Madden told the site, “Preacher is a show unlike any other on television … A passionate base of fans found their way to Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy and have followed along with their adventures, at times indescribable adventures, for three seasons. We are thankful to our partners at Sony and to Seth, Evan and Sam for everything they have brought to this series, which we are pleased to renew for a fourth season. Like the superfans of Preacher, we can’t wait to see where this journey leads next.”
Considering the way the series has incorporated ideas from the comic book, it is entirely possible for the program to reach its endgame next season or hold off in anticipation of a fifth and final season. Either way, the news that more Preacher is on the way will delight fans of the series.
