With The CW superhero shows complete for this week, our attention turns toward “Elseworlds,” the three-night crossover event starting with a special episode of The Flash on Sunday. In the story, Barry Allen (Stephen Amell) and Oliver Queen (Grant Gustin) discover they’ve switched lives. Their investigation leads to Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davies), a man with a particular theory about fate who has been given a very special book by The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) which allows him to rewrite history. Meanwhile, Barry Allen (John Wesley Shipp), the lone survivor of Earth-90’s encounter with The Monitor comes to Earth-1 to warn the mixed-up Barry and Ollie that a Crisis is coming.
The crossover will also introduce Batwoman (Ruby Rose), as glimpsed in the trailer and the Earth-38 Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch). It also sets up a number of elements to The Flash‘s presumed Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2024. Provided the show is still on the air at that point, of course. But with The Monitor, Psycho-Pirate (Bob Frazer) and a greater number of worlds than previously establish debuting in “Elseworlds,” the red skies leading to Barry’s disappearance seem more and more likely despite Nora’s (Jessica Parker Kennedy) plans to change history.
“Elseworlds” begins this Sunday on The CW.
