Director Toshifumi Nabeshima (Armored Core) and Producer Shinji Hashimoto (Final Fantasy XV) team up to bring players Left Alive, a new video game set in the Front Mission universe. While the original Front Mission series of games were all grid-based strategy games in which players piloted customizable mechs known as Wanzers, this title is a complete shift away from everything the old games were known for aside from the lore.
Here, you play as soldiers trapped across enemy lines, forced to do whatever you have to to survive. Focused primarily on how the player is lacking everything they need, and they’re up against an entire army. To make up for that, the player is capable of sneaking around, using traps, and taking advantage of the element of surprise. The game promises choice-based storytelling, and the opportunity to play through the game as multiple protagonists.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the Front Mission universe without mecha, and this game has several opportunities for players to commandeer Wanzers to inflict some payback on the other army. Left Alive will be available for PS4 and PC March 5th, 2019.
