Entertainment company Viz Media is always finding different manga series to publish in the United States. At the start of the new year, they will be releasing a new title from their Shojo Beat imprint called Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast For Spirits.
The series is based off of light Japanese novels by Midori Yuma with art by Waco Ioka and character designs by Laruha. In it, a young girl named Aoi Tsubaki gains the ability to see spirits from her grandfather. Unfortunately, she also happens to inherit his debt to them. Aoi is then taken away to the spirit world, Kakuriyo, where she must choose to either marry an inn keeper who her grandfather wronged or be eaten by demons in order to pay off the family balance. She’s not enamored with either of her choices so decides to settle the debt in her own way.
Editor Pancha Diaz says:
The stakes are high for Aoi Tsubaki in KAKURIYO: BED & BREAKFAST FOR SPIRITS as she attempts to pay off her grandfather’s massive debt while avoiding being consumed by demons or giving into the pressure of marrying one of them. We look forward to readers discovering how this determined and resourceful young woman rolls up her sleeves and saves herself with plenty of surprises for her captors at every turn.
Kakuriyo will be out January 1, 2019. Future volumes will be released on a quarterly basis.
