It’s awards season again as many sites, including our own, name their favourite artists, books, writers and more from 2018. Well, here’s another one to add to the pile, but one that’s rather a niche award, focusing sole on the oversized Artist editions as popularised by Scott Dunbier, who brought these treasured tomes into the marketplace back in 2010 while with IDW, who are spearheading this award. Well, they do publish these beauties, right?
It’s simple enough a process with voting now open as of January 1 to January 31, with the final results posted Friday, February 1.
If you pop over to the Artist’s Edition (AE) Scott Dunbier Awards site now, you can see all 17 titles up for your consideration. They include the likes of John Byrne’s X-Men Artifact Edition (IDW/Marvel), The Prisoner Original Art Edition (Titan Comics) and more modern master too, such as Frank Cho’s Savage Wolverine Artist’s Edition (IDW/Marvel). A good selection and, as you can read, not all from the one publisher.
Although, surely, IDW have a slight advantage with the sheer number on the list the produced last year? If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on the Byrne book, myself. Let’s see if I’m right come February 1st, shall we?
