Louis Ozawa Changchien To Join Supergirl As The Hat

Manchester Black’s Elite is nearly complete.

Comicbook.com reports The Man In The High Castle‘s Louis Ozawa Changchien will play The Hat in an upcoming episode of Supergirl. The character debuted in Action Comics #775 by Joe Kelly and Doug Manhke. The story, titled “What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?” saw Superman fighting the Elite, a pastiche of the then-popular Authority in DC’s Wildstorm universe. The group included The Hat, Menagerie, Coldcast and founder Manchester Black. Each resembled Authority characters in some respects — Manchester’s Union Jack t-shirt is a direct lift from the Authority’s Jenny Sparks — even as they grew to become their own characters in subsequent appearances.

And as in the comics, Supergirl‘s Manchester Black (David Ajala) appears to be heading toward creating his own might-makes-right superteam with the Hat and Menagerie (Jessica Meraz) already set to appear. As Comicbook.com notes, Changchien’s first episode will share it name with Action Comics #775. With the Elite on their way, Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) current struggles will not get any easier.

Supergirl returns January 20th.
