Metal Gear In Concert Makes U.S. Premiere This Spring

by Gary Catig

The Metal Gear video games have come a long way since their humble beginnings in the late 80’s. The much beloved series has spawned over twenty installments with many receiving critical acclaim and commercial success. The franchise has even branched out into other forms of media including novels and comics. Now, following in the footsteps of Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy and Pokemon, Metal Gear has its own orchestral concert.

The concert series will premiere in the United States with the first stop, on March 23rd, in New York followed by another on April 6th, in Los Angeles. There will be more than 70 musicians on stage along with singer Donna Burke. Burke has provided vocals for several tracks of the video game series. In addition, HD footage from the game will be projected onto a large screen synchronized to the music. Fans can listen to the familiar background music from their favorite scenes along with memorable songs. Music plays such an intricate and vital role to video games, it’s surprising there are not more concerts of this type out there. It is really no different than a movie soundtrack.

Tickets can be purchased here for New York and here for Los Angeles. For more information about the show, check out the Wild Faery website. You can also watch the concert video trailer below.
