Dragon Ball Project Z Brings A New Vision Of The World Of DBZ

by Sage Ashford

Hinted at the beginning of last week, this weekend Bandai-Namco revealed the first trailer in a new Dragon Ball Z Action RPG game at the World Tour Finals for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Developed by CyberConnect2 (the studio known for the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm titles), the trailer we’re given here shows very little game play, but it does offer some idea of what will be covered in the game. Featured are some iconic moments from the series like Goku training with King Kai in the afterlife, the team’s battle against Freiza, and much more.  Though it’s unclear how much of the series is being covered, the trailer seems to stop at the Frieza Saga and Goku’s first transformation into a Super Saiyan. However, it’s still very early in the game’s reveal and there’s definitely the potential for it to go past just the first two sagas.

What gameplay we do see shows Goku traveling in various environments, including a forest area, the Kame House, and even going through West City.  Going off the trailer, we’ll only be playing as Goku, which is a bit of a bummer, but works if they’re aiming to tell “the story of Goku”.

Currently, the game has only a rough “2019” release date.  We’ll hopefully see more of the game at this year’s E3.

Dragon Ball Project Z is coming to PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
