Deadpool 2’s David Leitch To Direct Undying Love Adaptation

Deadline reports David Leitch, director of Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde, will direct an adaptation of Undying Love for Studio 8.

The comic book by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman tells the story of an American solider who makes his way across the Hong Kong underworld to free a woman from her vampiric curse. Originally designed as an 8-issue series, Image Comics eventually published a 4-issue series instead and a collected edition in 2011.

Since 2012, a film version has been in development with filmmakers like Alexandre Aja and Joe Carnahan attached to direct. The project went dormant for some time prior to Studio 8 picking up the rights from Warner Bros. It is one of several comic book-inspired projects in the company’s pipeline, which includes adaptations of Rob Liefeld’s Prophet and the Kwanza Osajyefo co-created series BLACK.

With a director lined up for Undying Love, it may prove to be the first of Studio 8’s projects to materialize.
