For those waiting to see the next phase in Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy’s (Olivia Holt) journey, the wait is almost over.
Deadline reports the second season of Cloak & Dagger will premiere April 4th on Freeform. Picking up from their role-reversal in the Season 1 finale, Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as “more active heroes” while facing new challenges from their changing home lives. Or, in Tyrone’s case, the lack of one. And as they dedicate themselves to something heroic, their abilities will grow and change as well. According to Deadline, “they will dive deeper into [the] metaphysical pool. With enhanced powers and a decision to be the type of heroes they want to be, they make the choice to run into the danger, head first. They tackle a heartless vigilante and uncover an evil that’s been preying on the young women of the city, as the show takes on more serious topics like gang violence and human trafficking.”
Cloak & Dagger‘s take on social issues is nicely subtle and merges well with the overall story. At least in the first season. Hopefully that balance will continue to prove it is one of the better Marvel TV shows to date. Besides Joseph and Holt, Emma Lahana, Gloria Reuben, Andrea Roth and J.D. Evermore are also set to return.
