Captain Marvel Gets Retro Style Website

by Oliver MacNamee

If you head over to the official Marvel website, you may well find yourselves transported back in time to the early days of the internet and the dominance of hokey graphics and comic sans as far as the eye can see. That’s because the boys and girls at Marvel have just set up a mini-site for the forthcoming 1990’s set Captain Marvel film and it looks and feel exactly like one of those early webpages you’d have to wait hours to load up through your landline.

It’s got some new content displayed as an old school webpage where you can scroll down and play a rather weak-ass game of spotting the Skrulls from the humans, or rewatch the trailers. It’s a few minutes of fun, but I don’t think you’d necessarily spend too long there after your initial visit. It even has a Guest Book, but that’s lardy full, elating you with very little to interact with at this time. Although there is a Top Secret section that’s seems unfinished for now.

Still, it’s a great bit of fun PR as well as something of a curio and helps bang the drum for the forthcoming film.

Now, I wonder what the soundtrack will have? Will it be more Rage Against The Machine or The Space Girls I wonder? I just pray there’s no Oasis. Urgh.

Check out the mini-site here and see what you think. And, if you do see here, give the old lady/Skrull one in the eye for me. You’ll know what I mean if you visit.
