With tensions still on the rise across Earth-38, Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) makes his debut to make things worse for Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). And as seen in this preview for next week’s show, his attempt to put Earth under a red son leads him into a confrontation with his sister Lena (Katie McGrath) and the National City superhero community. Will they be able to stop the dastardly foe?
Considering Lex is finally entering the mix, you have to wonder how much of this season has been his doing all along. Did he ultimately deploy Lockwood (Sam Witwer)? Did he order the shooting which closed out this week’s episode? If all the anti-alien sentiment has been the next stage of Lex’s ongoing war with the House of El, it offers one way to resolve the storyline in a somewhat satisfying way. Well, presuming he’s the big bad and not just another element of the chaos unleashed on the show. Between the Children of Liberty, The Elite, Lex, and the looming specter of Red Daughter, there are a lot of ways the latter part of the season could go.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
