Slade Wilson will be getting his contract on DC Universe’s Titans.
Deadline reports Caprica veteran Esai Morales will appear in the second season as Deathstroke, aka Slade Wilson. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in New Teen Titans #2, the best assassin in the DC Universe quickly became the group’s prime antagonist. With Wilson children to throw at the team and a very inappropriate relationship with the Titan known as Terra, Slade caused plenty of damage before finding his way into the wider DC arena and becoming a thorn in the side of the Justice League itself.
The Titans version of the character will honor much of his comic book history. According to the character description, Slade is still the best contract killer on the Titans Earth. Additionally, he “became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge.” But unlike the previous on-screen iterations of the character — most notably Manu Bennett’s Deathstoke on Arrow — Slade will actually lead a double life; being a present father and husband while also touring the world as Deathstroke. That could be an interesting change, particularly if the Titans can only defeat him by revealing his secret to his family.
Of course, it remains to be seen if Deathstroke has his own designs on the team or if someone else with very deep pockets wants them dead.
Titans returns to DC Universe later this year.
