Announced at a Phantasy Star Online event in Japan this weekend, SEGA’s popular MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 has revealed a trailer for a new anime adaptation. Entitled “Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle”, this series will release later this year.
This is not the first anime PSO2 has had, with SEGA and Telecom Animation teaming up to release Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation in 2016. That twelve episode series followed a group of high school kids in their school’s student council who became engrossed in the world of the popular video game, and celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of the PSO franchise. Rather than take the meta approach of an anime about a video game again, Episode Oracle actually looks to be a direct adaptation of the PSO2 storyline, following the first three episodes.
