A Bill & Ted movie has been the wish of fans ever since Bill S. Preston, Esq (Alex Winter) and Ted “Theodore” Logan (Kean Reeves) won the San Dimas Battle of the Bands in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Things never quite worked out and there have been a number of false starts in the last few years, but according to this new video from Orion Pictures, Winter and Reeves will reprise their role one more time for Bill & Ted 3: Face The Music.
And while Reeves puts a lot of conditional statements about the movie getting made into the announcement, Orion is confident enough that it will happen to schedule a release date: August 21st, 2020. According to a previously released plot summary, the film will see the two best friends as middle-aged men with family responsibilities who have yet to fulfill their destiny. In the earlier films, it was said their music would unite the world. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns the duo that only their music can save life as we know it. Out of luck and inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on another time travel adventure — with the help of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.
Hopefully, they will be able to write their prophesied song. We also hope characters like Station and the Grim Reaper (William Sadler) return to help out.
Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music opens on August 21st, 2020.
