Idris Elba To Join Mouse Guard Feature Adaptation

Idris Elba cannot get enough of comic book based movies.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is in final negotiations to star in Fox’s adaptation of Mouse Guard. Based on the Boom! Studios series by David Petersen, the film focuses on an an order of mice who protect their medieval realm from threats like foxes and eagles to other rival factions. Elba will play Celanawe, a legendary warrior seemingly missing as the tale begins. The film will also feature Andy Serkis as the villainous former guard blacksmith Midnight and Thomas Brodie-Sangster is Lieam, the young recruit thrust into the center of the conflict.

The role represents a foray into comic book film for Elba, who is set appear as Deadshot in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Production of the film, which will utilize the actors’ voices and movements via complex motion capture rigs, is set to begin production in May.
