See The World Through The Eyes Of Snow White In New Comic From Dark Horse

by James Ferguson

Dark Horse Comics continues its partnership with Disney with another look at a classic story. This time around it’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Written by Cecil Castellucci and illustrated by Gabriele Bagnoli, the three-issue mini-series is more than a retelling of the timeless tale. It’s told through the first-person perspective of Snow White.

The comic follows Snow as she’s forced to work in her own castle by her wicked stepmother, the Queen. She’s more than a damsel in distress though. Snow has a heart and soul that years for knowledge, love, and acceptance. Her world is forever changed when she meets her prince charming and her jealous stepmother tries to have her killed. Snow flees to the forest to hind. It’s there she finds sanctuary with a family of seven boisterous dwarfs.

I’ve said it before, but these comics are a great gateway for kids to get into the medium. Adapting, reimagining, and expanding classic stories like this is going to expose so many younger readers to the awesome qualities of comics. Dark Horse has done a number of these and I hope they keep growing the line.

Disney Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs #1 is set for release on June 16th, 2019.
