The cast of The CW’s Katy Keene pilot continues to grow.
Deadline reports Zane Holtz and Katherine LaNasa will join star Lucy Hale and Riverdale‘s Ashleigh Murray in the proposed musical dramedy. Based on the Archie Comics characters, the potential series charts the lives of the title character, Riverdale‘s Josie McCoy (Murray), and two other young adults (Jonny Beauchamp as Ginger Lopez and Julia Chan as Pepper Smith) as they try to make it in “timeless” New York City said to be as “enchanting as Riverdale is moody.”
Holtz will play K.O. Kelly, a welterweight hopeful looking for his prize fight and the hand of Katy Keene in marriage. He is described as a “humble, protective, salt-of-the-earth guy who makes ends meet as a personal trainer and a bouncer.” LaNasa will play Gloria Grandbilt, a legendary personal shopper who is “always impeccably dressed and the queen of her domain.” Since Katy will also work as a personal shopper, we’re going to assume Grandbilt is either a mentor or rival.
The pilot also features Camille Hyde and Lucien Laviscount as re-imagined versions of Josie and the Pussycats supporting characters Alexander and Alexandra Cabot.
As this is a pilot, it is unclear if the show will ever make it to air, but The CW seems interested in staying in business with Archie Comics and Hale, who starred in the network’s short-lived series Life Sentence last year.
