Apple Announces Video Game Subscription Service

by Christine Marie Attardo

This week brought tons of big announcements from Apple, but the one I am most excited about is Apple Arcade. The company has taken over so many parts of the entertainment world, so it’s no surprise that they’ve moved in this direction. It seems that subscribers will have access to tons of different games.

GameSpot reported:

Apple’s service takes the form of a monthly subscription that provides unlimited access to a curated selection of paid titles on the App Store. Development partners include Sega, Konami, Disney, Sumo Digital, Cartoon Network, and more–more than 100 exclusive games will become part of the service.

I wonder if the service will have unique enough titles to draw in a big crowd, or if the Apple logo will be enough to do the job. Personally, I look forward to seeing how Apple conquers the gaming world beyond the apps that are already so successful. We can look for more news on this in the Fall.
