Gotham Reveals Its Joker In New Preview

by Erik Amaya

Gotham is still on a Spring hiatus for a few more weeks, but Jeremiah Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) is just too anxious to reveal his new face and wardrobe. Oh, also, he seems to have a new wrinkle in his persona thanks to some face paint. He’s not the Joker some fans would like, but he is the Joker Gotham deserves; scares and all.

The sparse hair is probably the most unsettling thing about his look. The acid burns recall that time he had his face cut off in the comics, but it also brings Mistah J home to the Gotham style of things — silly even as it tries to be shocking. Of course, it remains to be seen if he will have much to do before the ten-year time jump in the final episode. At that point, Batman (David Mazouz) will be the city’s protector, Jim (Ben McKenzie) will have is mustache, and Harvey (Donal Logue) will presumably have an extra 50 lbs on him. It will be interesting to see Batman within the Gotham context, particularly if we get to see his first tussle with the Joker.

Gotham returns April 18th on Fox.
