The Flaming Carrot Returns To Print Thanks To Dark Horse Comics

by James Ferguson

The legendary Flaming Carrot is about to make his long-awaited return to comic shops as Dark Horse Comics has announced a new omnibus collecting over 400 pages of Bob Burden’s surrealist hero’s adventures.  These comics have been out of print for years and there are some folks (myself included) that haven’t had a chance to check out the Flaming Carrot yet so this is a great way to dig in.

From the way it’s described, this is definitely an intriguing comic.  Dark Horse says it’s full of “dreamlike surrealism, disturbing violence, sexual adventurism, bar-hopping, and a bizarre and nightmarish costume.”  The Flaming Carrot fought Road Hogs from Outer Space, got drunk with Death, teamed up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to save the “Umpire State Building,” bounced around on a nuclear powered pogo stick, and ordered some new Brussel sprout flavored ice cream.  That’s a lot to take in.

The Flaming Carrot Omnibus collects Flaming Carrot #1-2, 4-11, and 25-27.  It clocks in at 416 pages and will retail for $24.99.  It’s currently available for pre-order at your local comic shop, book store, and Amazon.
