The Psycho Rangers Attack In New Power Rangers OGN

by James Ferguson

The fan favorite Psycho Rangers are set to return in a new original graphic novel from Boom! Studios, under license by Hasbro this October. Power Rangers: The Psycho Path, written by Paul Allor, illustrated by Giuseppe Cafaro, and colored by Marcelo Costa, digs into the secret origins and motivations of the Psycho Rangers.

These evil versions of our heroes possess speed, strength, and smarts. Created by Karone, back when she was the villain Astronema, the Psycho Rangers were programmed to hate everything about the Power Rangers. They were defeated, not without great personal cost. Now someone has brought them back and they’re even more murderous than before. Karone, the former Lost Galaxy Pink Ranger and her brother Andros, the Red In Space Ranger must stop the Psychos before they can continue on this rampage.

Writer Paul Allor says:

I can not wait for Saban’s Power Rangers: The Psycho Path to be unleashed upon the unsuspecting populace. The entire team has worked together to create a compelling  and deliciously twisted journey that will surprise and delight Power Rangers fans all along the way. This book is not what you think it’s going to be. And I suspect you’ll love what it is.

Power Rangers: The Psycho Path features a cover by Diego Galindo.

Artist Giuseppe Cafaro adds:

Being a part of the Power Rangers family is such a huge honor. I felt the weight of that honor in Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon, and I can feel it now. I think the Psycho Rangers universe is so powerful and dark; it has been very fun to work on!

This is not the first Power Rangers OGN from Boom! Studios. They recently released Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon, following the future adventures of Tommy Oliver. It sounds like Psycho Path is in a similar vein, showing what happens after Andros and Karone hang up their morphers. How can you go from saving the world or the galaxy to living a normal life?

Dafna Pleban, Senior Editor, Boom! Studios says:

Everything turns upside down as Karone and Andros are forced to deal with the rise of the Psycho Rangers, causing Karone to struggle with her identity as the dark and power-hungry Astronema and pulling Andros along for the ride as he tries to help his sister. Things get dark and dire in space, giving fans a chance to glimpse into the shadows behind the mysterious rebirth of these twisted versions of the original mighty heroes.

Power Rangers: The Psycho Path is set for release at comic shops on October 9th, 2019 and book stores on October 15th, 2019.
