Anticipating Studio Trigger’s New Anime Film Promare

by Tito W. James

In Promare, firefighters combat disaster the only way anime characters know how– in giant mechs. With anime like Promare and Fire Force , I guess super-powered firefighters are in vogue this season.

Promare’s art style drops outlines in favor of bold colors. It’s a technique I haven’t seen since Summer Wars and it looks sleek and fresh.

Studio Trigger (Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill) is known for over the top fights and ridiculous plots. No matter how many sharks they jump you can’t help but be curious as to what they’re doing next.

Studio Trigger’s projects are strongest when they focus on action, comedy, and animation. I’m not expecting a grounded emotional experience from Promare, but I hope to see an exciting spectacle film in the same vein as Redline.
