Atlus has announced a Persona 5 spin-off in the form of “Persona 5: Scramble – The Phantom Strikers”. The trailer sees Persona 5’s lead character Joker tearing his way through countless opponents, in true Dynasty Warriors style. The game will be an action RPG developed by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force studio.
So far, no release date for the title has been given. However, the game has been confirmed to be developed for both the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch.
Combined with the announcement that Persona 5 is being given an enhanced version in “Persona 5: The Royal” that’s currently confirmed to be exclusively to PlayStation 4, this puts an end to the rumors that the Persona mainline series is leaving PlayStation consoles. At least for now–Persona certainly wouldn’t be the first series to turn into a multi-platform one down the line. Moreover, with the Switch’s capability as a portable system, it’s seemingly increased the number of people willing to double dip, buying a game twice for the purposes of having it on the go. It wouldn’t be the worst strategy to maximize sales for the PS4 version before announcing and releasing a Nintendo Switch version months later.
