Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay have revealed a new trailer for Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, along with giving the title a firm release date. Bloodstained is a Kickstarted title meant to evoke the feeling of Igarashi’s Castlevania games. Taking place in 19th century England, the game features a young woman named Miriam, whose body is slowly crystallizing thanks to alchemical experiments gone awry. To fix herself (and save the world), Miriam is forced to explore an eerie castle to stop Gebel, another human who lost his humanity after being the subject of too many experiments.
The trailer pokes fun at fan reaction to the game, which complained about the game’s lighting and the art style being used, only to reveal an entirely different lighting and color palette. The spiritual successor to Iga’s older games like Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow, Bloodstained will provide players with hours of fun, having the largest castle Iga’s ever worked on, while also having secret, extra characters available for players to run through the castle with.
The game also gives us a surprise upcoming release date, as it’s scheduled to release on June 18th for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One players, and June 25th for Nintendo Switch players.
