The new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home is a giant spoiler. This might explain why Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo lifted the spoiler embargo today. You see, the trailer confirms when Far From Home is set. And the very timeframe of the film constitutes a spoiler. So if you haven’t seen Endgame at this point, get ready to learn something pivotal about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Picking up from the events of Endgame, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) faces more responsibility than he ever has before. But since he’s still a teenager, he just wants to go on summer vacation with his classmate and maybe start a relationship with MJ (Zendaya). But as forces always conspire against Spider-Man, that may not be so easy.
And now we know the film is indeed set after Endgame, Peter and all his Academic Decathlon teammates were lost in the Snap, and the world — or at least New York — expects Spidey to take Iron Man’s place. Oh, and Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is from a tangent timeline. All of that suggests places the MCU will go in the next few years as, it seems, Spider-Man will be a key character going forward.
Spider-Man: Far From Home opens on July 2nd.
