Jason Inman Explores The Intersection of Super Heroes And The Armed Forces In New Book

by James Ferguson

You don’t have to look far to see how comic book super heroes have pulled from real heroes of the armed forces. Everyone remembers the iconic image of Captain America punching Adolf Hitler right in the face. Writer Jason Inman explores this relationship in Super Soldiers: A Salute to the Comic Book Heroes and Villains Who Fought for their Country, debuting in June from Mango Media.

The seed for this book came when Inman rediscovered his love for comics during his service at the Tallil Air Base in southern Iraq.  He wondered why there was such an overlap between comic characters and service members.  Is it their loyalty to everyday citizens and the never-ending quest for justice? What kind of soldiers were they and how were they changed by war?

Super Soldiers: A Salute to the Comic Book Heroes and Villains Who Fought for their Country sits at the intersection of war and pop culture to answer these questions and more.  Each chapter digs into military comic book characters, comparing them to personal stories from Inman’s military career.

Super Soldiers: A Salute to the Comic Book Heroes and Villains Who Fought for their Country is set for release on June 18th, 2019.  It’s currently available for pre-order at your local book store and Amazon.
