Lobo’s Krypton appearance will be enough to launch him into his own series.
Variety reports the Main Man will be the focus of a spinoff series at Syfy. The infamous Czarnian bounty hunter was created by Roger Slifer and Kieth Giffen in the pages of Omega Men, but came to prominence in the pages of L.E.G.I.O.N. and a number of specials by Alan Grant and Simon Bisley; which parodied the merciless anti-heroes of the era while also giving DC a legitimate success in that market during the 1990s. Like Venom, he came to represent the heights of “grim-n-gritty” comics.
On Krypton, he continues his bounty hunter ways as a genius level intellect when it comes to matters of warfare who always honor the letter of his agreements. Presumably, he will take those traits to his own show, even if the tone switches to something more like the Grant and Bisley comics. Krypton executive producer Cameron Welsh will serve in the same capacity on Lobo while actor Emmet J. Scanlan is expected to continue in the part.
The series, should it make it to air, represents the final step in Lobo’s long journey to the screen. Various attempts to make him a feature film star foundered across the decades, but perhaps television was always his best destiny.
