While previous trailers for Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of The Boys has played coy with the titular characters, get ready to meet Butcher (Karl Urban), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), The Female (Karen Fukuhara), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and newest recruit Hughie (Jack Quaid). Oh, also get ready for some graphic violence, harsh language, and a certain skepticism about superheroes. This is based on a comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, after all.
And just as Butcher suggests with his Spice Girls pep talk, the five seemingly ordinary humans comprise an effective team of vigilantes who take it upon themselves to deal with the more hedonistic members of the superhero community. But some of The Boys have a more personal stake in their job. Perhaps too personal. The show will also feature Elizabeth Shue as the vice president of a hero management company and Anthony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jesse T. Usher, Chase Crawford, Nathan Mitchell and Erin Moriarty as members of a superhero group The Boys will face along the way.
The Boys debuts on July 26th.
