Bandai Namco has formed a new studio called “Project Sky Blue” to work on a new online action RPG known as Blue Protocol. Project Sky Blue is made up of developmental members from both Bandai Namco Studios and Bandai Namco Online, and the game is being developed with Unreal Engine 4. They’re aiming to create a game with high definition graphics resembling anime films.
The only other information currently available on the game is the single screenshot above and a title screen which loosely describes the game and the world: “The world is on the brink of devastation, now is the time to unite. March on with friends and strangers, and defeat foes beyond your might. Travel through space and time, to change the future beyond this fight!” The game’s description suggests heavy MMO elements with the “friends and strangers” part, but also the potential for time travel and possibly even other planets, but that part may not need to be taken so literally.
This title is in development exclusively for PC at the moment, but given how little we know about the title and that they’re only comfortable explaining the game’s existence through a single screenshot, that could easily change. Moreover, since there’s only a year to go before the new consoles are unveiled from Sony and Microsoft, there’s a strong chance they’re simply keeping quiet on any other potential new platforms.
