Netflix has unleashed a teaser for its upcoming adaptation of The Witcher. Henry Cavill stars as Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who fights monsters for profit. And on The Continent, where magic flows freely and creatures roam the wilds, a Witcher is a handy person to have around. Of course, Geralt is not fond of people and avoids their politics whenever possible. But as this teaser indicates, he cannot avoid becoming part of a conflict which threatens to engulf the Continent entirely.
Other members of the cast include Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Fortitude’s Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, Millie Brady as Princess Renfri, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Maciej Musiał as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, and Anna Shaffer as Triss. Daredevil and Defenders co-executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will run the show and write the pilot script, while Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström will all direct portions of the eight-episode first season.
The Witcher will debut on Netflix sometime soon.
