CDProjektRED has released a “deep dive” with nearly fifteen minutes of gameplay on their upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077. It focuses on two of the playstyles for players: Brute Force, and Netrunner. It also centers on Pacifica, a district which will be explorable in the game, along with two gangs in the Animals and the Voodoo Boyz, as well as more information on Johnny Silverhand.
Pacifica is one of Night City’s six districts, designed to be a major tourist attraction. But thanks to a collapsing economy, the area has fallen apart and been left to the gangs. It’s one of the most dangerous locations in Night City, with the deep dive focusing on a mission V completes for the Voodoo Boyz against the Animals. It displays two completely different routes for the player to take, with both having vastly different results.
Cyberpunk remains one of the most highly anticipated video games of the generation, though it’s a little unfortunate CDProjektRED doesn’t feel confident enough to show us an unfiltered look at the title. We were originally meant to see a much longer demo that was shown at E3, until CDPR decided to stick with this heavily guided “deep dive” instead. While it’s true that gamers have only grown more critical this generation, we’re still only eight months out from the release of this game. One way or another, eventually they’re going to have to stop being so guarded about this game. Though this snippet was an enjoyable watch, another 45 minute gameplay demo that actually let us see how the moment to moment gameplay unfolds would have been preferable to what we saw in this trailer.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia on April 16th, 2020.
