As promised, ArcSystemWorks gave us the full reveal of May right after the CEOtaku finals of the current Guilty Gear game. Though brief, we get to see May knocking around her opponents with a giant anchor…before they reveal the next character to be shown off, Axl Low. Axl will be revealed at the SEA Major 2019 tournament in Singapore. It’ll run from October 12th to October 13th, so players looking for more butt-rock and gameplay won’t have very long to wait.
What’s most interesting about Guilty Gear’s game reveals aside from just how stunning they’ve managed to make the graphics is how structured these reveals are. Fighting games are pretty constant about gradually releasing information, but typically it isn’t nearly as focused as this. They announced it during EVO, and since then at multiple gaming events they’ve had information on what’s going to be revealed next, and where players can look forward to seeing it. It’s the kind of information fans of other series (not just fighting titles) wish they could get, but are instead stuck with vague “look forward to it” kind of posts.
There’s still no firm release date for this game, but it’s only a matter of time. It’s confirmed for 2020, and with how quick they’re going through these reveals, that seems quite likely.
