AMC has released a preview of the third Walking Dead series. The still untitled program centers on a group of youths growing up after the Walker apocalypse claimed civilization. And though their town seems more settled than others we’ve seen on the other two shows, the children of the new generation want to see the wide walker world before it presumably melts away. Banding together, they head out on the road and face the final trails to adulthood while defeating the undead. And as this trailer seemingly indicates, that journey will feel more like a Freeform show than one set to debut on AMC.
We’ll be honest, the soft guitar rock accompanying the trailer goes a long way to making it feel out of step with both The Walking Dead universe and AMC as a network. That is probably the intention as a third series set in this world has to establish a different tone from both the original series and Fear the Walking Dead. But we imagine the teen angst on the display will give a lot of Dead fans pause.
Actors Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Annet Mahendru, and Aliyah Royale will lead the forthcoming series. Created by TWD‘s overall creative director Scott Gimple and frequent TWD writer Matt Negrete, the series will also see these young travelers “grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
It will debut on AMC in Spring of 2020
