Kamala Khan Comes To Marvel’s Avengers Game

by Sage Ashford

At the Marvel Games’ NYCC panel, Kamala Khan, the latest addition to Marvel’s Avengers was revealed.  Kamala will serve as the lead protagonist for the game, and the trailer shows both how she managed to meet Bruce Banner and Tony Stark, as well as some of the environments she’ll be fighting in.

The core Marvel Avengers’ roster rounds out with the addition of viewpoint character Kamala Khan! The beloved teenager who defends Jersey City as Ms. Marvel joins Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Captain America in an original Avengers story told by Crystal Dynamics.

The Avengers’ absence following A-Day had devastating consequences worldwide, including a new, enigmatic organization coming to power – Advanced Idea Mechanics, also known as AIM. With the Avengers disbanded and AIM turning public sentiment against Super Heroes, Kamala hides her budding abilities from the world. After uncovering a shocking conspiracy, Kamala must learn to embrace her powers in order to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

In addition to this initial trailer, Marvel has released an in-depth look at the character, including an interview with the woman behind the hero, Sandra Saad.

This is the first time we’ve seen someone outside the usual films join the game, but it’s doubtful it’ll be the last.  There’s been no hard limit on the number of playable characters. Ant-Man was shown, Hawkeye was promised, and by extension it’s likely we’ll see the Wasp and Captain Marvel as well. Could Black Panther and other major Marvel heroes be out of the question?

Marvel’s Avengers releases May 15th on Google Stadia, PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
