The Outer Worlds is an upcoming first-person action role playing game with a space western feel developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Private Divisions. It is set in an alternate history where President McKinley was never assassinated and Teddy Roosevelt did not succeed him. As a result, big business was allowed to flourish and eventually developed into mega corporations in the future.

Players assume the role of a mysterious, rugged stranger who ends up in a galactic outpost run by the company, Halcyon. The stranger travels with NPC companions to different planets hoping to unravel the corporation’s true intentions and take them down.

Last summer, during E3, we had the chance to view a hands-off demo of The Outer Worlds and you can find our initial impressions here. One of the main draws of the game was the fearsome creature designs of the native fauna players encounter. One beast in particular that caught the eye were the giant rodent-like Raptidons.

If you caught the show related haul, you might catch a glimpse of a different Raptidon. A less intimidating, huggable plush version. Though it may share the same color schemes and spikes all the way from the back down to the tail, I’d prefer to face this version in the desert landscape.

You don’t have to wait too long to visit The Outer Worlds. The game comes out October 25, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It will be released at a later date on Nintendo Switch.
