Shinobi: Ninja Princess Celebrates Christmas In Illuminations One-Shot

by James Ferguson

Action Lab Entertainment is getting into the holiday spirit with Shinobi: Ninja Princess – Illuminations, a one-shot from writer / artist Martheus Wade and colorist Janet Wade. The Toshigawa ninjas Shianndrea and Hamasuke set out on a Christmas adventure taking them from the streets of New Tokyo to a local arcade to the festive illuminations of the city lights. Along the way they learn that they have more in common than they thought.

Co-creator Martheus Wade says:

We both love the Holiday Classics of our childhood, both from animation as well as the book releases. We hope that this comic hearkens back to those warm feelings of togetherness, adventure, hope and forgiveness for a new generation of readers.

Shinobi: Ninja Princess – Illuminations is told in a style of classic holiday episodes of shows like Batman: The Animated Series, delivering a modern tale for all ages.

Martheus Wade added:

I think one of the things that have always stuck with me was the Christmas episode of Justice League Unlimited where the Martian Manhunter was trying to understand the season and Superman took him to his farm to spend the holiday. The way the JLA all interacted allowed me to get to know the characters that much more as well as feel for them. The last shot of Jon Jones eating Oreos, petting a cat and singing to himself is still etched in my mind. I hope our story can resonate with readers just as that one did with me!

Shinobi: Ninja Princess – Illuminations will be available on ComiXology and November 29th, 2019.
