Stargirl will be the newest addition to the DC TV pantheon when it debuts in the spring of 2020. But in an unusual twist, the program will stream on DC Universe and air on The CW. With that in mind, the network released a trailer for the series, in which Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) finds the Cosmic Staff left behind by Starman (Joel McHale) and decides to usher in a new age of heroes.
Joining her will be father-in-law Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson), Starman’s former teen sidekick. It’s still unclear if he will have the S.T.R.I.P.E. mechsuit his comic book counterpart built in the short-lived Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. series by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder. But considering Johns is an executive producer on the series, it seems more likely than not.
The series will also feature Amy Smart as Courtney’s mother, Barbara, Anjelika Washington in as-yet undisclosed role, and a surprising number of JSAers, including Lou Ferrigno Jr as Hourman, Henry Thomas as Dr. Midnite and Brian Stapf as Wildcat. The series will also feature a modern day Injustice Society composed of actors Joy Osmanski, Neil Hopkins and Nelson Lee as villains Tigress, Sportsmaster and Dragon King.
Stargirl comes to DC Universe and The CW in 2020.
