DC Comics March Solicitations: Top Picks For Your Consideration

by Oliver MacNamee

Once again we pick out the DC Comics we’re looking forward to from DC Comics full solicitation of titles for March 2020. Maybe they’re titles you’ll be interest in too, or ones you’re already buying. While there’s not a lot of new titles, other than Strange Adventures #1, there are a few that stand out because they’re concluding or introducing something new, such as Justice League Dark #21 that welcomes Ram V as solo writer with this month’s issue.

So, with that in mind, what have we got this time round for your consideration?

Batman: Curse of the White Knight #8

This is it, y’all, the concluding issue of Sean Murphy’s ongoing hit alternative universe Batman as an unmasked Batman faces off against Azrael. After all he’s lost in this series, what’s left to lose?

Witness the final battle of the two Bats in this conclusion to the second installment of the White Knight saga! After learning the truth about his name and fortune, Bruce Wayne has made a shocking public announcement in pursuit of redemption—but before he can secure Gotham’s future and prosperity once and for all, he must protect the city in one last brutal showdown with Azrael. With Batman devastated by his shattered identity and with little left to lose, there may be nothing left to stop him from abandoning his code and resorting to one unthinkable desperate measure.

Justice League Dark #21

Having throughly enjoyed Ram V’s These Savage Shores – a book upon which he really came into his own as a writer to be recognised – writer Ram V flies solo on Justice League Dark #21 as James Tynion IV finds he’s got his hands full with Batman. Taking on DC Comics more magically charged heroes, after making a splash with fans and editors with his Justice League Dark Annual, I can’t wait to see what he does with these weird and wonderful heroes. Ram V is joined by Alvaro Martínez Bueno on art.

Rot ‘n’ roll! Wonder Woman, Detective Chimp, and special guest star Animal Man fend off a horde of monstrous Rot-infected creatures—but risk contamination with every soul they save! Meanwhile, Zatanna and Constantine discover the secret of the Parliaments in an estranged ally’s dreams, but there they find no lullabies—only nightmares!

Legion of Super-Heroes #5

I enjoyed the first issue fo Brian Michael Bendis and Ryan Sook’s Legion of Super-Heroes relaunch and even though there’s been a delay in the follow up issue, I’ll still be picking it up on a regular basis. So, looking forward to issue #5, if it comes out on time.

DC’s far-flung future is happening right now! With the secret of Jon Kent revealed, the Legion of Super-Heroes is united to save New Earth from those who would destroy it. Will Aquaman’s lost trident be the key to New Earth’s demise? Plus, Mon-El comes clean about his connection to Jon, and Cosmic Boy and Ferro Lad find out they both have a crush on the same Legionnaire.

Strange Adventures #1

From the award winning team that brought you Mister Miracle comes more superhero angst and self-reflection in the return of Adam Strange to his own series. By Tom King and Mitch Gerads.

Adam Strange is the hero of Rann, a man famous throughout the galaxy for his bravery and honor. After leading his adopted home to victory in a great planetary war, Adam and his wife Alanna retire to Earth, where they are greeted by cheers, awards, and parades. But not all is as happy and nice as it seems, as the decisions Adam made during battles on Rann come back to haunt his family and threaten the entire DC Universe. And now a surprise DC hero will have to choose between saving Adam Strange and saving the world.

A story like no other, Strange Adventures is an ambitious, thrilling, shocking, and beautiful 12-issue saga that will push Adam Strange to the breaking point—and beyond!

Robin 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1

Announced this week to mark Robin’s 80th anniversary, this one’s gonna be big! 100 pages big, with a huge cast of the most talented creators working for DC Comics today.

DC Comics celebrates Robin the Boy Wonder’s 80th anniversary in style with an all-star creative team representing each iteration of the iconic character across eight decades of history! From the high-flying adventures of Dick Grayson to the tragedy of Jason Todd, the enthusiasm of Tim Drake and the arrogance of Damian Wayne, the persistence of Stephanie Brown and the rebelliousness of Carrie Kelley—the mantle of Robin has been worn by many, but always represents one thing: a hero.

That’s it for this month, but do check back for our pick of Marvel titles for March once their released.
